Objective
To introduce a comprehensive approach to traffic safety and to acquaintparticipants to the latest development in safety theory and practice.The faculty will include international road safety experts.
Course Content

ROAD SAFETY: BASIC PRINCIPLES. This session will discuss the long-term trends of traffic safety observed in different regions of the world. Basic principles of understanding road safety will include public health and systems approach. Relevance of international best practices based on lessons from the past will be discussed.

SAFER ROADS: PRIORITIES IN URBAN AREAS: Traffic crash patterns observed in cities will be discussed and methods to design safe urban roads and junctions. Special emphasis will be given to speed control by design.

SPEED & SAFETY ON HIGHWAYS : Scientific evidence on the influence of speed on traffic crashes and methods to control it on rural roads and divided highways.

EFFECTIVE ENFORCEMENT STRATEGIES: Lessons from around the world will be used to present principles of effective enforcement methods to reduce road traffic fatalities.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: A great deal of time, money and effort is devoted by road safety experts in education and awareness raising. This session will be devoted to separate effective practices from less effective ones.

PRE-HOSPITAL CARE: Cost effective methods for providing care to the crash victims will be discussed which can be implemented worldwide.
